Shelter

Story

I had the opportunity to work on an Android and web app called Shelter. The app was designed to facilitate the repair and maintenance of damaged vehicles, and we worked closely with repairmen and warehouse managers to ensure that it met their needs. Through a series of field tests and iterations, we focused on simplicity and scalability over flashy design solutions, ultimately creating an app that was easy to use and highly effective.

Challanges

The project may not be attention-grabbing in itself, but it presented us with exciting challenges. We had to implement numerous features and solutions, as we were not developing the application for average users.

  • Force update: Since the application was designed for mechanics, we treated it as a tool provided by our company to facilitate vehicle repairs. Therefore, it was crucial for them to always have access to the latest version. This allowed us to utilize force update functionality on the Android side.

  • Ugly, but functional: Our goal was not to create the most visually stunning application. Instead, we prioritized functionality that would assist mechanics in their work. We focused solely on Android devices, but we had to account for a wide range of phone models. We prepared the application to be used with gloves, and the user interface had to be highly contrasted for optimal visibility.
